Exhausted ? Doubting yourself? Burning out?

If that's a yes,  then you are not alone and this space is here to help.

"No Mudd, No Lotus", Thich Nhat Hanh

Welcome to Waycare Academy, a space created for educators like you; the teacher who has poured out energy, heart, and soul, yet still feels stretched thin, disconnected, or simply exhausted. I know this pain all too well...

I remember sitting on the couch in the teacher staff room with my coffee, knowing I didn't have much time. The bell was going to ring soon. I barely sipped that coffee that I so desperately thought I needed. My eyes were fixed forward and my body frozen. The bell rang. Time to get to class. Kids are waiting for me. My body would not budge. I couldn't move, couldn't talk. I had disassociated from my environment. I didn't know at the time that is what was happening but I had finally crashed. I burnt out!

I remember my principal wrapping me in a blanket and placing me in my sister's car. I will never forget her words that day, "You are going to be OK, Rachel."

At the time, I did not believe those words. My grief consumed me. Parenting two small children who just lost their father, working full time, sports, coaching, homework, helping them with their grief, fixing the car, tending to groceries and a house...well, you get the picture.  It was only a matter of time before my body had had enough. All the signs were there; not sleeping, nightmares, exhausted, not eating well, body aches, headaches, no motivation, and a fake smile to hide my pain. My inattention to my own well-being and allowing myself to process grief appropriately, led me to experiencing trauma. Chronic stress without attention can lead to this.

I tell you this part of my story because if you are feeling the signs of burnout or trauma, I want you to know you are not alone. I crashed that day but it was the turning point in my life. I realized something deep inside of me was fraying. That is when I began a journey, not only to heal, but to find a way of being that could hold both my calling for teaching and my deep human need for rest, rootedness, and renewal.

I immersed myself in powerful, life-changing teachings.

Wayne Dyer taught me how to align with purpose.

Eckhart Tolle showed me how to live in the now.

Abraham Hicks taught me how to live with ease and flow.

Tony Robbins invited me into the power of mindset.

Dr. Joe Dispenza opened the door to rewiring my brain.

Dr. Gabor Maté grounded me in compassion, somatic healing, and radical self-acceptance.

At the same time, I pursued a Master’s in Educational Counselling Psychology, integrating formal knowledge with spiritual wisdom.

Through this weaving of spiritual learning, psychological insight, and lived experience, I uncovered what actually worked for me. So I created Living the Lotus Way. This is more than a set of strategies; it’s a transformative approach to life. Just as the lotus flower rises through murky water, we too can rise through challenge, grief, and stress—and bloom into more clarity, strength, and joy.

At Waycare Academy, I now bring that work to teachers. My mission is to help you navigate burnout, set boundaries, and reconnect to your purpose. I offer online courses, retreats like The Bliss Project, workshops, and coaching—all designed with the educator in mind.

Here, you’re invited to transform your inner world so your outer world can follow. To rest without guilt. To grow without forcing. To teach from a place of grounded energy, authentic connection, and deep peace.

This is your place to rise. Each petal, each day, each step—one breath at a time.

Life is not perfect by any means. It has its challenges. And having the tools and mindset to maneuver them, embrace them, and to move through them with self-compassion will make all the difference in how you live and how you show up to teach.

I hope you find my teachings helpful and transformational.

Supporting An Educator's Journey

At Waycare Academy, the lotus flower is a symbol that  speaks to the heart of what it means to be an educator—navigating difficulty, staying grounded in purpose, and finding beauty and fulfillment in the work, even when it’s hard.

The lotus grows in murky, messy water, but rises above it, blooming clean and radiant. For teachers, this image mirrors the emotional, mental, and spiritual challenges of the profession. Amidst pressures, burnout, and ever-changing demands, the potential for joy, resilience, and personal growth still exists. And it's powerful.

  • Rising Through Hardship: The lotus reminds us that even when the environment feels heavy or overwhelming, we can rise. Teaching is hard, often thankless, but there is strength in continuing to show up, to bloom anyway.

  • Rediscovering Joy: The lotus turns toward the light, just as educators can rediscover meaning and joy in their calling. Teaching doesn’t have to be a source of depletion, it can be a path back to purpose, connection, and even happiness.

  • Letting Go of What Doesn’t Serve You: Like the lotus remains untouched by the mud around it, we can learn to detach from negativity, unrealistic expectations, and emotional exhaustion, choosing instead to protect our energy and well-being.

  • Personal Renewal: The lotus opens with the morning and closes with the night, symbolizing rest and renewal. Teachers often forget they’re allowed to pause, reset, and begin again, with compassion for themselves.

  • Authenticity & Self-Worth: The lotus never pretends to be anything it’s not. It thrives by simply being what it is. As educators, we can stop striving to meet impossible standards and start honoring who we are and what we uniquely bring to our classrooms and communities.

Waycare Academy was built for you—the educator who’s given so much and is ready to feel whole again. The lotus is your reminder that no matter how difficult things have been, you have the power to grow, thrive, and bloom—one step, one petal, one day at a time.

My mission is to provide courses, information, speaking engagements,  and yearly bliss retreats to empower educators with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate the messy, magical word of education.
